If your big wedding plans were postponed and you looked at Airbnb as a “plan b” to host your intimate ceremony, you may have been disappointed when they made this announcement:
Airbnb announced a ban on all parties and gatherings across the board. However, there are still plenty of venue options in the Bay Area for your intimate ceremony (and/or reception!) and I hope this blog post is a great resource for you.
Let’s get to it!
1.) A backyard!
This could be your backyard or someone else’s! At the time of this writing, there are other property rental websites with no policies against intimate weddings. A backyard gives more control and potentially more privacy than other options, and it’s a lot more affordable if it’s yours! 🙂
2.) A park or open space
Being in nature decreases the amount of decoration you would want or need! They may have closed parking lots but wide open spaces to allow social distancing and privacy from any other park-goers. You would probably need to find somewhere else to host a reception or meal, or you could pack it in!
Purisima Creek Reserve – Located in Half Moon Bay, it has lots of coastal redwoods and lots of space.
Tilden Park – Located in Oakland & Berkeley, Tilden has covers. a large area with plenty of parking and variety in scenery.
**There are a lot of different park options, so this is just a sample!
3.) Restaurant Patios and Private Event Spaces
You’ll have to check for any updates regarding larger gatherings, but here are a few small venue options in the Bay!
Ruth Bancroft Garden and Nursery is based in Walnut Creek that offers wedding rentals and beautiful grounds. You can easily view their availability calendar on their website!
Del Popola is a restaurant in SF that offers several private, intimate dining areas.
4.) And if none of those work, you can consider traveling to a place like the Nevada side of Lake Tahoe!
And if you need some tips and inspo for intimate weddings, you can read this blog post!
