The Importance of Printing your Pictures

Looking around my house, I noticed how little wall space was left. We have some pieces from Hobby Lobby up on the walls, but a majority of that space is taken up by pictures of us. Wedding pictures. Anniversary pictures. Pictures of our puppies. Of our families. My walls make me smile, and I wanted to share 3 reasons why printing your pictures is so important.

1.) Digital files won’t last forever. When my grandpa passed away, we looked through album after album after album that my grandma had made. We got to touch pictures…look closely at them, and share the albums on our lap as we laughed at memories together. You can’t feel digital images like you can feel printed ones. JPG images are great. You can have them on your phone, on your computer, or on your tablet. You can share them, upload them, do whatever you want with them.  But what happens when your computer crashes? Or somehow all of those pictures get corrupted? Printing your photos is so important because you may lose those digital files someday. (A little disclaimer – I do believe you should store your pictures on a USB just in case that computer crashes!). Framing pictures or making an album is one way to ensure that you & generations to come will be able to enjoy those photos for a lifetime.

2.) Printed pictures are tangible proof of your love and your legacy.  I have a picture on my desk of Greg and I sharing communion during our wedding ceremony. On days when we are frustrated at each other, I can look at that photo and be reminded of why we work so hard at marriage. It serves as a tangible reminder to love Jesus and to love my husband. If you print pictures that mean something to you, they will serve as reminders. Print that picture of you and your best friend who moved away – maybe it will remind you to call her every time you see it! Or maybe it’s super easy to get frustrated at your kiddos – print that picture of them snuggling you to remind you of the love and patience they need.

3.) Printed pictures help make a house a home. I love Hobby Lobby wall decor. It’s cute, it’s almost always on sale, and it can fit any color scheme. But quotes or maps on walls cannot compare to pictures of your love. When Greg and I moved into our house, it didn’t immediately feel like home. You know when it hit me that this was home? When I hung up picture of us. Pictures of when we started dating, when we got engaged, and our wedding pictures. It brought our past, our present, and our future into this house. A house feels warmer when you fill it with your memories.
